Testimonials

Sheerghlass is a beautifully situated older property which has been imaginatively converted into an attractive modern residence which is roomy, very tastefully decorated and furnished, fully equipped and very comfortable to live in.  It was absolutely spotless when we arrived.  The inverted nature of the conversion with the bedrooms and washing/toilet facilities downstairs and living accommodation upstairs takes full advantage of the cottage's wonderful location and there are superb views from the kitchen over the beautiful bay towards the bustling and very attractive Port St Mary. It made it almost impossible to move away from the breakfast bar where the windows faced out over the bay.

The house has many windows making it light and airy and the main room downstairs had a number of patio doors which could be opened to bring in the fresh sea air.  There are patio doors in the bedrooms too and it was lovely to lie in bed in the morning with the doors open listening to the sound of the sea and the various seabirds.

The bedrooms are lovely, and our bed was large and very comfortable with crisp white sheets and duvet covers.

The washing/bathing/toilet facilities are good too with powerful showers and a bath if you want to bring your ducks.  There was even a view of the sea from one of the loos. A real loo with a view!

There was a generous welcome kit when we arrived with a warm welcome from the owner’s representative who showed us round the house and gave us useful information about the local area.  There were slippers and big fluffy bathrobes and there were fine handwashes and moisturisers at every basin.  Outside you could watch and hear the wonderful sights and sounds of curlews and see oystercatchers, herons, a range of gulls and various other birds.  Take your binoculars and your bird-spotting book.

Beyond the garden which is lovely for al-fresco dining is a quiet narrow lane which is on the coastal path and a cycle route and is popular with dog walkers.  There’s an atmospheric ship burial site a short walk away and it’s a beautiful easy walk which takes an hour or so along the path to the attractive Castletown. You might guess from the review that we loved it there and you wouldn’t be wrong.

“The photos do not do this house justice. It is fabulous! The location is down a coastal track so a car is necessary but the walk along this track along to Castletown in the one direction and Port St Mary in the other is flat and stunning. Would definitely recommend.”

“We had a wonderful stay at Sheerghlaas. The cottage was in an amazing location with amazing views of Gansey Bay. It was a wonderfully luxurious place to stay. The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. The cottage is ten minutes drive from the airport and less than ten minutes from Castletown and Port St Mary. Suzie, Amy and Selina were all welcoming and highly professional. We would not hesitate to recommend staying here.”

My son and I spent several weeks at Grenaby Estates during lockdown and I can’t recommend highly enough. The views flowing down over the south coast of the island and the equestrian estate are stunning. It’s an idyllic setting and the accommodation 5-star beautiful furnishings and Luxury comfort. The owners and all staff are a joy and made us feel incredibly welcome and like we were at home from home. Can’t fault anything would suit someone looking for a peaceful retreat OR a family looking for mountain biking / active holidays or a romantic break away. We can’t wait to get back later this year.

This place is amazing, myself and a few of my friends and family stayed here for my wedding weekend and it was perfect, each cottage was beautifully presented, and the grounds were perfect, we didn't want to leave. Thank you so much. We couldn't have asked for anything more, and highly recommended.

We have stayed with the Grenaby Estates on a number of occasions, mainly at their coastal cottage, Sheerghlass, but also in one of the converted estate buildings, The Hayloft. The standard is excellent throughout and best of all dogs are welcome!

Everyone at Grenaby makes a big effort to ensure we are happy customers. They have even gone to the trouble of getting something for us, if we have made a request. That’s very special...We love the Isle of Man, so to be able to come with our dogs, and be welcomed and as comfortable as we are, is just the icing on the cake.
