Farm Supervisor
Farm Supervisor (SOC code 1211) for Grenaby Estates, Ballasalla, Isle of Man.
-
Responsibility for all Farm & related family matters (the Estate).
-
Ensuring smooth day to day running, overseeing ongoing maintenance, refurbishment, & development of the Estate.
-
Responsibility for (in consultation with the Employer) including but not limited to:
-
Day to day maintenance & efficient running of the Estate & its activities.
-
Day to day maintenance & efficient running of Estate & family assets including properties, vehicles, boats & livestock.
-
Maintenance, organisation, good order & safety of all Estate land & boundaries including hedging, fencing, walls, roadways, tracks, waterways, & ponds.
-
Ensure holiday cottages & tourist related accommodation is kept up to 5* standard & passes annual inspection.
-
Day to day care & welfare of all livestock on the Estate including (but not limited to) horses, sheep, chickens, peafowl, dogs, cats.

Health & Safety aspects Ensuring farm complies with the requirements of the Isle of Man Government’s Yard Inspectors

Ensure Estate properties & public areas comply with current fire regulations ongoing development of the Estate including tourism, farming, & Equestrian businesses.

Support Head Girl in all aspects of running the equestrian centre
-
Support with conflict resolution & problem solving for all people associated with the Estate, including but not limited to, staff, customers, visitors, tenants & neighbours.

Assisting overall administration of the Employer’s business customer records, accounting for receipts & payments, invoices, VAT returns, employment matters Overall cost control.

Responsibility for increasing revenue flow.

Supervision of Estate development & activities including property renovations, marquee requirements, wedding bookings & enquiries, cottage bookings & checkins.

Hay/haylage harvest.
-
Family marine craft & engine & bodywork maintenance.
-
Any other duty as directed by the Employer.

Farm Supervisor Essential Requirements
-
Self starter with drive & enthusiasm
-
Well presented & approachable with high standards
-
Full clean driving licence (including HGV/plant/tractors/motorcycle etc)
-
Evidence of recognised health & safety & first aid qualifications
-
Willing & able to accept full overall responsibility & supervise Estate Team
-
Ability & willingness to work under own initiative
-
Ability to undertake farm maintenance & diagnose a range of defects & action repairs
-
Ability to undertake marine maintenance & diagnose a range of defects & action repairs
-
Extensive experience & working knowledge of good farming practices
-
Extensive experience & working knowledge of property renovation & maintenance including:

Plumbing
-
Septic tanks & soakaways
-
Solar installations
-
Concrete & plastering
-
Steelworks & welding for security fences & gates
-
Carpentry & cabinet making & general woodwork
-
Security & camera installations
-
Electric fencing installation & maintenance
-
Roofing & waterproofing
-
Painting & decorating
-
Tiling & flooring
-
Competent in handling & operating full range of farm vehicles & equipment

Good working knowledge & proven experience of working with horses & farm animals

Ability to provide support for equestrian activities

Ability to project manage & troubleshoot

Capital projects & liaise with architects, engineers & subcontractors effectively in a professional manner
